If you’re a Netflix TV show enthusiast, I’m sure you’ve watched almost everything by now. Even people living in Selayang, Malaysia have Netflix on every device. However, have you ever wondered which are some of the best TV shows on Netflix, though? Of course, different people have different tastes and preferences but this list consists of shows that have a lot of views in general. A lot of people genuinely liked them due to the uniqueness of the storylines and great acting that portrayed each character flawlessly. If you have not seen them yet, and since we have a lot of time staying at home or working from home, here are a few short descriptions of some of the best shows on Netflix:
The Haunting Of Hill House/Bly Manor
If you are a horror fan, these two shows are some of the best horror shows I’ve seen in a while. I put them side by side because both of these shows on Netflix were3 directed by the amazing Mike Flanagan who has directed some of the best horror movies as well. Those horror movies include Hush (2016), Before I Wake (2016), Gerald’s Game (2017) and more. One of the main reasons that horror films or shows directed by Mike Flanagan are good is because he does not go down the road of cheap jump scares. As an example, both The Haunting Of Hill House and Bly Manor were adapted from novels. Both have as well had been made into movies before the shows by Flanagan was released.
There was a movie released in 1963 titled The Haunting, based on the Hill House story. The movie was full of jump scares and was honestly not that fun to watch. The Netflix show that was released in 2018 by Mike Flanagan went above and beyond and I enjoyed every minute of the short series. The same goes for Bly Manor, before Flanagan’s rendition was released in late 2020, a movie based on the story was released in early 2020. The movie, unlike the show, was quite confusing and had a lot of plot holes as well. The show by Flanagan on the other hand was nice to watch with a few plot twists too but it wrapped up pretty well and left no plot holes. Thus, if you enjoy horror shows, you should watch these two. However, neither Bly Manor nor Hill House was ever proven to be a real location, unlike Selayang as mentioned in the introduction.
Love, Death & Robots
This is a 2 volume short series that portrays a lot of different and meaningful stories. The best thing about this show is that every single episode is a different story with different animation styles which makes it more interesting. Now, mind you that even though these are animations, they are certainly not for children.
Behind Her Eyes
This thriller mixed with a little fantasy-esque short series is full of mystery at first with romance in the middle as well as a plot twist somewhere in there. It’s long enough to make the story understandable with no plot holes left and short enough so it does not get boring.
